Jurgen Klopp confirms Loris Karius is new Liverpool No 1 ahead of Swansea: 'He needs to deliver and he knows that'

Jurgen Klopp has told Loris Karius it is time to deliver as the German goalkeeper prepares for an extended run as Liverpool's No 1.

Karius had been primarily used in the Champions League this season but his manager took the decision to drop Simon Mignolet for last Sunday's showdown with Manchester City and felt the moment had come for the player he signed from Mainz in June 2016 to make the position his own.

It was not an especially convincing start, with Klopp recognising that Karius should have done better for the goal Leroy Sane scored that enabled Pep Guardiola's team to go into half-time all square, the ball fizzing through his guard at the near post.
